About Me
Welcome! My name is Dr. Stacey Bayan. I am a clinical neuropsychologist, qualified medical evaluator (QME), and founder of Foothills Neurocare. I have 10 years of professional experience assessing adults and older adults. I initially got into the field of neuropsychology from a desire to understand how the brain works to make us, us. However, through the years, I found a greater purpose in my role in helping individuals and families create a path forward for overcoming and managing present challenges while continuing to live meaningfully and joyfully.
My primary areas of specialty are dementia and related neurocognitive disorders (e.g., Mild cognitive impairment), traumatic brain injury, chronic medical conditions (e.g., multiple sclerosis), cognitive issues related to psychiatric conditions, and ADHD.
Credentials
My graduate work in neuropsychology started during my master's studies at Cal State Northridge where my clinical work and research focus was assessment, dementia and traumatic brain injury.
I earned a Doctorate of Psychology from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology (College of William and Mary, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Old Dominion University, and Norfolk State University). I worked in a variety of settings conducting neuropsychological and psychological evaluations including inpatient, outpatient, schools, and rehabilitation. I was also involved in a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment program, which eventually resulted in my dissertation.
I completed my psychology internship at the University of Missouri where my focus was inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient neuropsychology. My 2-year post-doctoral neuropsychology fellowship was completed at Patton State Hospital where I provided neuropsychological consultations, psychotherapy, and group and individual cognitive rehabilitation.
Since completing my training, my work has primarily focused within the skilled nursing setting where I completed thousands of evaluations with older adults and medically- and/or physically-compromised individuals. I also provided staff in-services that focused on dementia education and how to manage difficult dementia-related behaviors.
Personal
I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley. I ventured away during my years of studies, but have proudly found myself back home in the SGV. What I love to do most on my free time is to spend time with my daughters, husband, and our very close-knit extended families. In between, I love movies, television shows, trying new food, and traveling.
If you have any other questions about me or how we can work together, please do not hesitate to contact me via phone, email, or leave a message in the comment box.
